Member Spotlight: GEP Planner

Riah Coley moved to Grinnell two days before the Derecho this year, and is excited to be here to serve with GEP. While new to the community, Riah brings experience as a classroom teacher, an early childhood educator, and a college academic advisor, as well as a passion for equal access and social justice.

The GEP Planner position has been exciting for Riah as they are able to learn new skills, such as survey design, and hone old ones, like creating backbone documents for meetings, conferences, and projects. With so many years in front of a classroom, stepping into a capacity building role is a new adventure.

Riah's projects this year include:

  • Creating surveys to help track performance measures for the wide variety of programming that GEP supports

  • Documenting taskforce projects and taskforce meetings, and crafting reports to help convey the work of GEP to community partners and the broader public

  • Maintaining and adding to the GEP website
